Actorul american Clark Gable a avut o copilarie normala pana la varsta de 16 ani, cand a plecat la Akron cu un prieten pentru a lucra la o fabrica. Se afla in Akron cand a vazut prima piesa de teatru si din acel moment a fost ca si posedat.
Dupa cativa ani de munca pentru companii falimentare si necinstiti directori de teatru, Clark Gable a fost ajutat in cariera de actrita Josephine Dillon, care devine prima sa sotie, dintre cele cinci, in 1924.
Debuteaza in 1931 cu The Painted Desert, si din 1932 Clark Gablea fost vedeta la MGM, companie la care a ramas timp de 22 de ani. In 1935 a jucat in It Happened One Night, cu care castiga un premiu Oscar.
In 1939 Clark Gable a fost distribuit in rolul Rhett Butler in Gone With the Wind (Pe aripile vantului), devenind “Regele” Hollywood-ului. In 1960 Clark Gable joaca alaturi de Marilyn Monroe in The Misfits.
Sufera un infarct la doua zile dupa terminarea filmarilor la The Misfits si moare la varsta de 59 de ani, cu cateva luni inainte sa se nasca primul sau fiu.
